Turkey has always been a truly unique presence.
Connecting Europe on one side and Asia on the other; steeped in thousands of years of civilization while maintaining vibrant cities and markets.
Its geographical position spanning Europe and Asia endows Turkey with a naturally strong international connectivity. Istanbul, in particular, is one of the world's few transcontinental cities——separated by the Bosphorus Strait, with Europe on one side and Asia on the other.
Yet Turkey's appeal extends far beyond its geographical location.
From the bustling urban life of Istanbul to the long Mediterranean coastline of Antalya, and on to popular destinations such as Cappadocia and Bodrum, it offers mature cities and commerce alongside rich tourism and resort resources.
Recently, Turkey's real estate market has also shown a notable shift.

I. Foreign Buyers
Rebound Year-on-Year for Two Consecutive Months
According to the latest data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, in July 2026, foreign buyers purchased 2,120 residential properties in Turkey, a year-on-year increase of 1.9%.
In the preceding month of June, foreign property purchases reached 2,015 units, up 20.1% year-on-year.
In other words, residential property sales to foreign buyers have achieved year-on-year growth for two consecutive months.
A very realistic reason why Turkey continues to attract international buyers for the long term is that it is not merely an “immigration program location”.
Home to global metropolises like Istanbul as well as mature resort destinations such as Antalya and Bodrum, properties here correspond to genuine residential, tourism, and commercial demands.
II. Nearly 64 Million Visitors a Year
Tourism Market Remains Vibrant
Turkey itself is one of the world's top travel destinations.
In 2025, Turkey's tourism revenue reached 65.23 billion USD, up 6.8% year-on-year; full-year visitor arrivals reached approximately 63.92 million, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%.
From popular cities and resort destinations like Istanbul, Antalya, and Bodrum, tourism, residential, and commercial demand forms an important foundation of the local real estate market.
For families planning to hold property for the long term, real estate ultimately comes down to practical value: the quality of the city, location, genuine demand, and whether it will be convenient to rent out or resell in the future—these factors are far more crucial than simply looking at short-term price increases.
At the same time, traveling to Turkey has become even more convenient for Chinese families.
Effective January 2, 2026, Chinese ordinary passport holders visiting Turkey can enjoy visa-free entry for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
Whether for vacation or on-site inspection of property and living environments, travel is significantly more convenient.
III. Two Options
How to Structure Your Turkish Citizenship
Currently, eligible foreign investors can apply for Turkish citizenship through various investment routes.
For Chinese families, two main routes currently attract significant attention:
• Bank Deposit Route: By depositing 500,000 USD or the equivalent in Turkish Lira, investors and their entire family can apply for a passport of Turkey, a major European nation. After 3 years, the deposit can be withdrawn at any time, with interest returns, while maintaining valid citizenship status.
• Real Estate Route: Applicants purchasing Turkish real estate valued at 400,000 USD or more can apply for Turkish citizenship. The property can be sold after a 3-year holding period, while citizenship status remains valid permanently.
Each option has its own advantages.
Families that do not wish to hold real estate and prefer flexible capital arrangements can focus on the deposit option; whereas families seeking to combine citizenship planning with overseas real estate allocation will find the property purchase option especially worthy of consideration.

IV. What Practical Benefits
Does a Turkish Passport Bring?
The advantages of Turkish citizenship lie not only in its flexible application routes but also in its post-acquisition utility.
Currently, a Turkish passport offers visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 120 countries and regions worldwide.
In business terms, Turkey is a G20 member state, maintains a customs union with the European Union, and has free trade agreements with numerous countries and regions, fostering close international commercial ties.
Additionally, Turkey is a US E-2 treaty country. Upon meeting the relevant criteria, Turkish citizens can further apply for a US E-2 Investor Visa.
From travel and business to further status extension, a Turkish passport covers a wide array of application scenarios.
