Recently, the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) released the Golden Visa data for October 2022. In October 2022, a total of 83 main applicants and 111 dependent applicants were approved for the Portuguese Golden Visa, with an investment volume of 44.315 million euros. Among them, 15 main applicants came from China, ranking first, followed by the United States (12), Brazil (11), South Africa (9), and India (5).
In terms of investment methods, among all those approved in October 2022, 71 applicants chose real estate investment projects, meaning they obtained the Golden Visa through property purchase, with an investment volume of 39.566 million euros. Of this, 29.616 million euros flowed into the 500,000-euro property investment immigration project, and approximately 9.95 million euros flowed into the 350,000-euro old property renovation project.
In addition, the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service has also updated the overall data since the launch of the Golden Residence policy in October 2012. Data shows that as of the end of October this year, 11,263 main applicants have been approved for the Portuguese Golden Visa, along with 18,479 dependent applicants. Among them, Chinese families account for half of the total, with 5,209 families approved, representing approximately 46.2%, which demonstrates the favor and recognition Chinese investors have for the Portuguese immigration program.
