As the pandemic gradually eases, the UK government has begun its plan to resume work and production, officially entering the second step of reopening on June 1 (for details, see: UK Presses the "Restart Button", How to Choose Quick Travel to the UK?), meanwhile, significant good news has recently arrived for visa centers both within and outside the UK!
According to the official website of the UK Visa Center (UKVCAS), starting from June 1, the UK will gradually reopen its visa centers and visa appointment services in phases! Previously, due to the pandemic, the UK government began to gradually close visa centers in several countries and regions, including China, starting in early February, and closed all visa centers both within and outside the UK on March 28.
The UK Home Office has announced that the first batch of visa centers to reopen in the UK includes: Birmingham, Birmingham VIP Service Application Center, Chelmsford, Croydon in London, Exeter, Leeds, London Mark Lane VIP Service Center, Victoria in London, Manchester Fountain Street Enhanced Service Center, Manchester VIP Service Center, Sheffield, and Southampton.
1. The first batch is only for applicants whose appointments were canceled due to the closure of visa centers.
It should be noted that since this is a partial reopening, the UK Visa Centers will prioritize processing those applicants who "had appointments but were forced to postpone or cancel due to the lockdown," and the Premium Lounge service, which originally required a fee, will now not require any additional payment for appointments.
2. Other applicants
• Applicants who have not submitted an online application but whose visas have already expired or are about to expire, the UK government’s online application remains open, and once an online application is submitted, the stay in the UK is considered legal until the application result is received.
• Applicants who have already submitted an online application but do not have an appointment yet cannot book visa services on June 1 and must continue to wait for further notice from the Home Office.
UK Visa Centers in Four Locations in China Open on June 1
The British Embassy in China has stated that the visa centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chongqing will resume operations starting June 1, and the reopened visa centers will contact existing clients! Meanwhile, due to pandemic restrictions, some UK visa and immigration services will still be closed, and specific situations need to be confirmed with the visa center in your location. In subsequent phases, other visa centers will gradually resume operations.
From June 8, 14 Days of Quarantine Required for Entering the UK
Although the visa centers are open, the UK's pandemic control measures remain stringent! Starting from June 8, the UK will implement a "14-day self-isolation" policy for incoming travelers (by plane, ferry, or train), with violators facing a fine of £1,000. It is reported that under the new policy, travelers entering the UK must provide their travel itinerary and contact information; upon entering the UK, they must immediately isolate for 14 days, with only a very limited number of circumstances allowing them to go out during the isolation period. WorldWay Immigration kindly reminds clients visiting the visa centers to adhere to local government requirements for social distancing, temperature checks, and wearing masks.
