Life in the United States: Reported on October 19, artificial hearts are similar to real hearts in that they can pump blood, but they exist in the human body merely as inadequate mechanical solids. Currently, scientists at Cornell University in the United States have developed a foam artificial heart that is closer to a real heart in both shape and function.
Due to its unique material, the foam artificial heart is easier to expand and contract and operates with higher efficiency. If this invention can lead to practical production, it will be widely used in better organs that can be customized for patients. However, this is just the beginning; the material could also be used in fields such as soft robotics and prosthetics in the future.
