British Immigration focuses on British Immigration Economy: British media reports that Chinese investors are acquiring multiple British private schools to meet the enthusiasm for British education in the Far East.
According to British media reports, last year, a Chinese company acquired the Chesham Grammar School, a boarding and day school located in Cannock, Staffordshire, United Kingdom. The tuition for day students can reach up to £11,000 per year (approximately ¥98,000), while the tuition for boarding students can be as high as £36,600, which includes an additional support program primarily aimed at Chinese students.
Reports indicate that principals and institutions acting as intermediaries for companies interested in acquiring British schools have stated that there is significant interest in British schools from the Far East. According to Neil Roskilly, head of the Independent Schools Association representing 370 schools, several transactions involving Asian companies acquiring British schools are nearing completion. He noted that the development of smaller private schools often requires substantial funding, making foreign investment very attractive.
Pierce Carter, founder of a school transfer company, stated: "There is significant interest from companies in mainland China, Singapore, the Philippines, India, Hong Kong, and Pakistan... They find education to be a good long-term investment." The company acts as an intermediary between schools and potential acquirers.
