Recently, applicants planning to travel to Cyprus in May 2026 should take special note: due to public holidays, there will be phased adjustments to Cyprus visa processing arrangements.
According to the latest arrangements from the BLS Visa Application Centre, the Cyprus Visa Application Centre will suspend services to the public during the following times:
• May 1st - May 3rd: Nationwide suspension of operations
• May 9th: Closed for the regular weekend, no public services
Applicants with travel plans are advised to arrange their appointments and visa submissions in advance to avoid any impact on their itineraries due to the holiday service suspension.

BLS unified processing, comprehensive process upgrade
01、Currently, Cyprus visa processing is fully handled by the BLS Visa Centre. This change means that Cyprus visa services are moving towards a more unified and standardized process.
• More standardized services: As a professional visa service provider, BLS will provide a more standardized process experience after taking over.
• More transparent processes: From document review to status tracking, the BLS system provides clearer guidance.
• Paving the way for "Schengen accession": The current visa process has been fully updated, including the adoption of a new application form and on-site biometric data collection (fingerprinting), with overall requirements further aligned with Schengen Area standards.
Schengen process accelerating
The value of Cyprus status is receiving significant attention
02、As an EU member state, Cyprus is actively advancing its process to join the Schengen Area. Once it officially joins the Schengen Area in the future, Cyprus will become one of the few countries in the world to be a "four-in-one" (EU member state, Eurozone country, Commonwealth member, and Schengen Area member), further enhancing the value of its status and its significance for European positioning.
Specifically, its significance is mainly reflected in:
• Significant increase in status value: Further integration from an EU member state into the core Schengen circle
• Improved freedom of travel and residence: Holders of a Cyprus permanent residence permit will be able to travel visa-free to 29 Schengen countries, truly achieving borderless travel in Europe
• More flexible education for children: Enjoy British-style education in Cyprus, with pathways to prestigious universities in Europe and the US, broadening the path for further studies
• Globalized asset allocation: Use Cyprus as a pivot for European layout to expand family assets, business, and life planning space
Currently, Cyprus is in a window period suitable for early planning. Investors can apply for Cyprus permanent residence for the whole family through the property purchase route starting from 300,000 EUR. WorldWay advises families with needs for European status planning, children's education arrangements, asset allocation, and long-term residence to evaluate their plans as early as possible based on their own circumstances, seize the current policy window, and complete their layout in advance.
