Recently, the Greek Prime Minister announced a tax reform package totaling 1.6 billion euros, effective from the 2026 fiscal year. The goal is to reduce the tax burden on residents, encourage childbirth, stabilize the population, and reshape Greece's appeal to international capital and high-net-worth individuals.
This reform is not just a fiscal policy upgrade, but a significant strategic “boost”—for families looking to expand their global footprint through overseas identity configuration, its value is expected to be significantly enhanced.

Policy Highlights:
National Tax Relief, Unprecedented Scale
This is not a minor adjustment, but a super tax relief plan covering the entire population:
• Tax Rates: All income brackets will be reduced by 2 percentage points overall. A new middle-income bracket of 40,000 to 60,000 euros will be introduced, with the tax rate reduced from 44% to 39%. The top tax rate of 44% will only apply to income above 60,000 euros, reducing the tax burden for different income groups.
• Family Tax Relief Policy: Families with children will enjoy tiered deductions. For families with one child, the tax rate for the 10,000 to 20,000 euro income bracket will be reduced to 18%, 16% for two-child families, 9% for three-child families, and tax-exempt for families with four or more children. For the 20,000 to 30,000 euro income bracket, the tax rate will be reduced by an additional 2 percentage points for each additional child.
• Pensions: Pensions will be automatically adjusted in line with inflation and GDP growth. Approximately 671,000 recipients with a “personal difference” will gradually have the offset rule restrictions removed, and they will receive a 250 euro subsidy every November, providing more sufficient security for families planning to retire in Greece.
• Youth Employment Incentives: Workers under 25 with an annual income below 20,000 euros will be completely tax-exempt. Workers aged 25—30 can enjoy tax reductions, with the tax rate in the 10,000 to 20,000 euro bracket reduced from 22% to 9%.
• Real Estate and Rental Optimization: The tax rate on the portion of annual rental income between 12,000 and 24,000 euros will be reduced to 25%. Property tax rates in villages with populations under 1,500 will be halved before 2026 and fully exempted by 2027. Residents of small islands with populations under 20,000 can enjoy a 30% VAT reduction. Long-term rentals of vacant properties and VAT on new construction will also enjoy reductions, significantly lowering the cost of property ownership for immigrants.
The Signal Behind the Tax Reform:
Greece Wants to “Retain People” and “Attract People”
The Greek economy is recovering strongly, with tourism, real estate, and innovative industries all continuing to heat up.
Relying on robust fiscal surpluses and growth confidence, the government has launched a new tax reduction policy, which not only improves the standard of living but also attracts global investors and high-net-worth families, providing them with a more competitive identity channel for property investment, retirement, education, and wealth inheritance in Europe.

Possessing a Greek Identity
Gaining More Than Just a Residence Permit
Possessing a Greek residence permit means much more than just “moving to Europe.” It is a “golden ticket” that connects quality of life, global mobility, and wealth freedom. Eight core advantages make the Greek identity stand out.
• Cost-effective: Greece is one of the few countries in the EU and Schengen Area where you can obtain permanent residency by purchasing property.
• Fast Processing: The application process is simple, with permanent residency obtained in one step, as fast as 3-6 months to get an EU country green card.
• Freedom of Travel: With a Greek permanent residence visa, you can freely enter and exit 29 Schengen countries.
• Low Threshold: No requirements for language, education, business, or management experience.
• Flexible Conditions: No need to explain the source of funds, no immigration prison, and no residency requirements.
• Family Immigration: One person applies, and the whole family of three generations can apply for Greek permanent residence status.
• Generous Benefits: Public healthcare and access to generous social benefits in EU countries.
• Quality Education: Children can enjoy high-quality public education in Greece, or enter top universities in mainland China with lower scores as overseas Chinese students.
Now is the Best Time to Plan
As one of the few projects in the current immigration market that can quickly obtain an EU green card, investors can obtain Greek permanent residence status in the EU in one step by investing in properties starting from 250,000 euros!
Currently, there are not many high-quality “commercial-to-residential” properties on the market that meet the Greek Golden Visa application act and can be transferred quickly. It is recommended that interested investors seize the opportunity, choose properties and complete transfers early, and secure their status for peace of mind!
