In today's rapidly changing world, immigration policies are like a Damocles' sword hanging overhead, capable of unexpected shifts at any moment. Therefore, those with needs for residency planning must clearly recognize that the path to immigration is filled with unpredictable variables. Maintaining high vigilance regarding policy dynamics and seizing current opportunities in a timely manner is the key to successful immigration.
Recently, the Residency Malta Agency (RMA) issued an urgent notification regarding health insurance requirements for third-country nationals: in accordance with Subsidiary Legislation 35.28 of the Laws of Malta, the Health Care (Fees) Regulations, as of August 1, 2024, applicants must hold a health insurance policy with a minimum coverage of 100,000 Euros.
Previously, under the old Malta Residence and Visa Programme (MRVP), applicants were required to purchase insurance covering the European Union with no specific coverage amount requirement, so applicants generally purchased a package with a minimum coverage of 50,000 Euros. After the new policy (MPRP) was implemented in March 2021, the immigration authorities adjusted this to require only insurance covering Malta, and the coverage amount was reduced to 30,000 Euros. This urgent notification suddenly raised the required coverage from 30,000 Euros to 100,000 Euros without providing any buffer period. It should be noted that if the health insurance coverage purchased by a permanent residency applicant is insufficient, it will no longer meet the requirements for a permanent residency application. Similarly, for applicants who already hold a permanent residency card, the health insurance coverage for the following year must meet the new regulations; otherwise, they will be unable to renew their cards successfully.
To ensure the compliance of the program and maximize the rights and interests of applicants, the Malta Permanent Residence Programme (MPRP) has always adhered to strict European Union standards, meticulously building its comprehensive legal system and review process. This policy change may signal a shift in the direction of Malta's immigration policy, indicating that future scrutiny of applicants will be more stringent and that thresholds may rise accordingly. Looking at current global immigration trends, it is not difficult to see that sudden changes in immigration policy can occur at any time. Therefore, the best time to immigrate is always now. Seizing existing policies is the smart approach; plan early and act early so that the whole family can benefit sooner!
Malta is one of the few countries in the world that is a "four-in-one" nation: a member of the European Union, the Schengen Area, the Eurozone, and the Commonwealth. Its comprehensive social welfare, stable macroeconomic environment, superior investment climate, abundant talent pool, common language environment, business-friendly background, and high quality of life make Malta not only a preferred choice for global investors but also a top destination for those planning their residency.
For investors who want to immigrate to Europe, applicants only need to invest from 60,000 Euros to enable four generations of their family to immigrate to Malta and obtain permanent residency in one step! This program has no requirements for language, education, or business background; the application conditions are simplified, the process is easy, and the investment amount is low! At the same time, it can meet children's educational needs, providing a green channel for children to enter world-renowned universities, or allowing them to participate in the Joint Entrance Exam for Overseas Chinese Students to enter top mainland universities with lower scores. In addition, it can satisfy various benefits such as high-quality medical care and retirement in Europe, which can be described as achieving multiple goals at once! Investors interested in immigrating to Malta should apply as early as possible to benefit sooner!
Currently, the tightening or even closure of immigration policies in many European countries has become a general trend. Previously, the European Parliament issued a serious warning regarding EU citizenship programs, urging all EU member states to ban "Golden Passport" schemes by 2025 and stating that it would implement stricter regulations on "Golden Visas." Under pressure from the European Commission, Spain has recently initiated plans to close its Golden Residence Visa program. For applicants wanting to immigrate to Europe, the tightening of policies means that time is running out to get on board. Opportunities for immigration cannot withstand hesitation; do not miss the current chance to immigrate to the EU with your whole family at a low threshold!
