This year marks the fifth anniversary of this ranking, which is the world's first university ranking that measures the contributions of universities to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This edition evaluated 1,705 universities from 115 countries/regions. It measures progress across individual Sustainable Development Goals as well as overall goals, resulting in 18 rankings: one overall ranking and 17 individual SDG rankings.
To enter the overall ranking, a university must submit data for SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) and at least three other SDGs. The overall score is calculated as follows:
• Sustainable Development Goal 17 – 22%
• Highest-scoring SDG – 26%
• Second-highest-scoring SDG – 26%
• Third-highest-scoring SDG – 26%
The overall ranking score is the average of the total scores from the past two years. In this ranking, a total of 16 Canadian schools made it into the top 100 list: Queen's University, the University of Alberta, the University of Victoria, Western University, Université Laval, the University of British Columbia, McMaster University, the University of Calgary, York University, the Université de Montréal, the University of Waterloo, the University of Saskatchewan, the University of Guelph, Simon Fraser University, the University of Toronto, and Dalhousie University. Additionally, schools ranked between 101-200 include Concordia University, Lakehead University, and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
It is evident that Canadian universities performed remarkably well in this ranking. Canadian education has long been world-renowned, with Canadian universities appearing on multiple international rankings. Canada is a culturally diverse and highly inclusive country, favored by international students and immigrant families.
As the saying goes, when planning for education, one must plan for status first. Providing your children with Canadian status is a superior choice to ensure they enjoy high-quality education in Canada. Now is an excellent time to immigrate to Canada, as the country has always opened its doors wide to welcome new immigrants. According to the "2023-2025 Immigration Levels Plan" released by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the country will accept 1.45 million new immigrants over the next three years. Specifically, the targets are 465,000 permanent residents in 2023, 485,000 in 2024, and 500,000 in 2025.
Increasing immigration is no longer just a "plan" for Canada's immigration authorities, but has become a "mandate." The Canadian government continues to introduce various favorable immigration policies aimed at attracting more individuals to immigrate to Canada. In recent years, the number of applicants has risen steadily. Investors may choose to immigrate through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) Employer-Driven stream. This program is part of the Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee Program for International Skilled Workers and aims to provide permanent residency opportunities for applicants currently residing outside Canada who meet the program's criteria. The program has lower language and work experience requirements, no age limit, no minimum investment amount, and offers fast approval times.
