On June 27, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union approved a draft list of 18 countries, and the EU borders will reopen to these 18 countries starting July 1.
The countries on this list include those from the Balkan Peninsula (such as Montenegro, where one can apply for an EU candidate passport starting from €350,000), Canada, China, South Korea, and Japan. The document is pending formal approval from the EU Council next week. The list of countries currently being drafted by the EU will be reviewed regularly and expanded in the future.
Earlier, the European Commission called on all member states to reopen all internal borders by June 15. Additionally, it recommended gradually lifting restrictions on foreign travel starting July 1.
Once this draft is approved, Chinese citizens will be able to freely enter and exit EU countries, and the investment boom in Europe, which has been hindered by the pandemic, will once again be ignited.
1. Investment Boom in Greece
According to data collected by the Bank of Greece from credit institutions, property prices in Greece increased by 6.9% in the first quarter of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019. An industry survey shows that, despite the pandemic, demand for real estate in Greece has rebounded, with 85% of buyers or tenants unwilling to delay or cancel their purchasing and leasing decisions due to changing conditions.
In recent years, with the recovery of the Greek economy and the support of the "Golden Visa" program, as Greece gradually "unlocks," a large number of investors are expected to flock to Greece. It can be said that now is the best time to invest in Greece! Currently, immigrating to Greece and purchasing property starting from €250,000 allows one person to invest for three generations to immigrate, providing access to 26 Schengen countries, with opportunities for tourism, vacation, and property rental and sales.
2. Cyprus EU Passport
Holding a Cypriot passport allows one to work and live freely in 27 EU member states, 3 member states of the European Economic Area (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein), and Switzerland, totaling 31 European countries. Holders who meet certain conditions can also achieve indirect immigration to the United Kingdom, which is undoubtedly valuable.
Currently, it is the best time to apply for a Cypriot EU passport. Investors can purchase Cypriot property starting from €2 million (whether one or multiple properties) and donate €150,000, allowing the entire family across three generations to apply for a Cypriot EU passport. Additionally, there have been several positive developments regarding the Cyprus investment citizenship program recently. Interested investors should act promptly to avoid missing the best application opportunities.
