The International Organization for Migration (IOM) released the latest World Migration Report 2020 at its 2019 Council meeting. IOM Director General António Vitorino stated that the report helps to better "understand" the fundamental characteristics of migration in an era of increasing uncertainty through constantly growing and refined data and information.
The report shows that international migrants account for 3.5% of the global population. In 2019, there were 272 million international migrants out of a global population of 7.7 billion, equivalent to the population of Indonesia. Of these, 52% were male and 48% were female, with 74% of migrants aged between 20 and 64.
2. The United States remains the largest migrant destination
More than 40% of global migrants were born in Asian countries. Among them, India, Mexico, China, Russia, and Syria were the five largest source countries for international migrants in 2019. The United States remains the largest destination, hosting 51 million migrants as of 2019. Statistics show that more than half of all international migrants live in Europe and North America, totaling approximately 141 million people.
3. International migration is growing faster than the global population
It is worth noting that the growth rate of international migration is now higher than that of the global population, which is quite unexpected. The report shows that the proportion of migrants in the global population has increased from 2.8% in 2010 to approximately 3.5% today.
4. Nearly three-quarters of migrants are of working age
According to estimates, approximately 38 million international migrants are under the age of 20, accounting for 14% of the total migrant population. There are nearly 202 million international migrants in the 20 to 64 working-age group, accounting for 74% of the total number of migrants. This group is mainly concentrated in East Asia and Southeast Asia, as well as in Europe and North America.
In today's world of globalization, economic integration, and convenient transportation, migration has become an increasingly popular phenomenon and an effective way for high-net-worth individuals and their families to achieve health and status planning. It facilitates global asset allocation and allows access to a wide range of benefits in education, lifestyle, and residency in other countries.
As a popular choice for immigration to the United States, the U.S. EB-5 investor visa is highly sought after by investors due to its lenient application conditions, with no restrictions on age, academic qualifications, language proficiency, business background, or work experience! Currently, one of the few available EB-5 projects that allow for low-cost immigration to the U.S. at $900,000—the Yellowstone Club Phase II—is a high-quality project favored by investors. This project combines multiple outstanding advantages, including dual approval from the immigration authorities, job creation that has already exceeded requirements, and repayment secured by collateral with five times the value, providing significant protection for investors' interests.
