Recently, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that the second round of invitations for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) will take place on September 6. All applicants who were not selected in the previous round will have the opportunity to receive an invitation to apply; however, those who were selected in the previous round but failed to submit their immigration application materials are excluded.
According to the 2017 federal immigration quota plan, the PGP quota is 20,000, with 10,000 spots allocated to the backlog of applications from before 2016, and the other 10,000 spots allocated to new applicants participating in this year's "random selection" model.
IRCC stated that when the first round of PGP invitations was conducted, Invitations to Apply (ITA) were sent to 10,000 selected applicants. However, by the application deadline of August 4, many had not yet submitted their applications. Therefore, the federal immigration department decided to conduct a second round of invitations to fulfill the 10,000-person quota for this year.
IRCC noted that the rules and procedures for this round of invitations are similar to the previous one. Those selected will receive an invitation to apply for Canadian immigration, but they must submit their immigration application materials by December 8, 2017. We remind all friends to check your email carefully to avoid missing any important information or delaying the submission of immigration applications for your parents or grandparents.
Canada has always been a desired destination for many Chinese immigrants. Furthermore, many ethnic Chinese who have already immigrated to Canada hope to bring their parents and grandparents to Canada so that they can be well-cared for in their later years. Since the Liberal Party took office, Canada has been committed to the reform and improvement of its immigration policies. In mid-June, the amendment to the Citizenship Act, Bill C-6, was officially implemented, significantly lowering the conditions and requirements for future immigrants to obtain Canadian citizenship. Overall, 2017 has seen the introduction of numerous favorable immigration policies and measures, making it an ideal time to invest in Canada.
