According to an announcement from the Privy Council Office, in order to strengthen family reunification and enable Canadian citizens or permanent residents to bring adult children between the ages of 19 and 21 to Canada, the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) has been amended. It is now stipulated that children under the age of 22 can accompany their parents as dependent children for immigration applications. This change will take effect starting this Wednesday (tomorrow Beijing time).
Furthermore, transitional provisions state that if an application was submitted on or before July 31, 2014, and the application is still in progress, children who were between the ages of 19 and 21 at the time of submission may still be eligible to accompany their parents for immigration.
Starting August 1, 2014, the Immigration Department lowered the age limit for accompanying children to under 19, replacing the previous limit of under 22. However, many youth between the ages of 19 and 21 did not meet the requirements for economic immigration, which forced them to be separated from their families. This relaxation of the age definition by the federal immigration department will allow many university students the opportunity to accompany their parents in immigrating to Canada.
WorldWay Immigration Group points out that this means families with older children will have the opportunity to obtain Permanent Resident cards together, which is great news for the ethnic Chinese community, which makes up a large proportion of immigrants. It is foreseeable that with the gradual implementation of numerous major new policies in 2017, combined with the current depreciation of the Canadian dollar, this is an excellent time for investment immigration to Canada, and applications for Canadian investment immigration in 2017 will be even more popular!
As a popular immigration program in the Canadian market, the 2017 Quebec Immigrant Investor Program has finally opened with the original policy and investment amount: there is a global quota of 1,900, with a total of 1,330 quotas for China (including Hong Kong and Macau). These are currently being snapped up, and WorldWay Immigration Group is launching a premium, rapid-access channel for you to secure your quota! For inquiries, please call: 400-138-2929
