The United Kingdom, as a long-established immigration country, has always been favored by investment groups. The UK is a typical welfare state, and its welfare system, which provides support from "cradle to grave," is exceptional for investment immigrants. In particular, the UK's universal free healthcare system is one of the greatest achievements of the 20th century. The superior social security system has increased the happiness index of those living in the UK. After immigrating to the UK, as long as one pays social security contributions, they can enjoy free medical services, supplementary pensions, and unemployment benefits.
The UK's "National Health Service" is praised worldwide, and its medical standards are also among the best. This year, Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne announced that the headquarters of the UK Precision Medicine Launch Center will officially be located in the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This center will complement the Pharmaceutical Technology Launch Center and the Cell Therapy Launch Center, together forming a world-class network of medical launch centers, ensuring that the UK remains at the forefront of the biopharmaceutical field.
The Precision Medicine Launch Center Network is located in North England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and South England. The Cambridge headquarters and the five regional centers will together form the national Precision Medicine Launch Center Network. The Precision Medicine Launch Center Network is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2016/17, with a total staff of 100.
Precision medicine uses diagnostic tests or data-driven insights to more accurately understand patients' diseases, with corresponding therapies being more predictable, safer, and cost-effective. The UK's research and clinical expertise, combined with government investment of approximately £1 billion in related research infrastructure, has positioned the UK as a world leader in this field. Based on this, the Precision Medicine Launch Center will make the UK a more attractive place for developing precision medical tests and therapies, ultimately benefiting the UK economy and patients.
