Old Royal Naval College
Featured films: "Thor: The Dark World", "Skyfall", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Cinderella", etc.
The Old Royal Naval College is a beautifully architectural site standing on the banks of the River Thames, which is why it has been used as a filming location for many movies. The official name of the Old Royal Naval College is the "Royal Naval College"; it was originally a naval hospital where British naval personnel injured in the Napoleonic Wars received treatment.
Subsequently, the Royal Naval College relocated here. The preserved buildings of the Old Royal Naval College remain majestic and imposing, still reflecting the grandeur of the past, as if history is quietly shaping the future.
Hatfield House
Featured films: "Shakespeare in Love", "Batman", "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes", "Sherlock Holmes", etc.
With a history of over 400 years, it can be considered a footnote to British history. Hatfield House is located in Hertfordshire and was owned by King Henry VIII of the Tudor dynasty. Queen Elizabeth I also spent her childhood here. The entire building features an arcade on the ground floor, a row of square windows on the second floor, a raised entrance, and a parapet with gables, reflecting Renaissance style and the influence of Low Country urban architecture.
Whenever British cinema is mentioned, many people instinctively think of Hatfield House. Do you remember that in "Batman" and "Batman Returns", this ancient mansion was used as Wayne Manor, the residence of Bruce Wayne and others? Moreover, it has appeared in over 30 films.
Bamburgh Castle
Featured films: "Harry Potter", "Robin Hood", "Elizabeth", "Blackadder", etc.
Bamburgh Castle stands on a basalt outcrop by the coast, overlooking the vast North Sea. Among the many castles in the UK, this is one of the most magnificent and impressive in England. The silhouette of Bamburgh Castle can be seen from dozens of miles away. Standing on the castle, one can look out over Lindisfarne Castle on the nearby Holy Island, the Farne Islands, and the Cheviot Hills.
The castle faces the sea and is surrounded by vibrant green grass, creating a scene of "facing the sea with spring blossoms." Stretching for miles, the scenery is spectacular and charming. Walking out from the castle, an expansive silver sandy beach fills the entire field of vision, making it perfect for a walk in the sea breeze, and even better for watching the sunrise or sunset.
Eilean Donan Castle
Featured films: "Highlander", "The World Is Not Enough", "Loch Ness", "Made of Honor", etc.
There are many castles in Scotland, and the most famous is Eilean Donan Castle. It is located on Eilean Donan island, which is owned by the MacRae family. Due to repeated wars and invasions, it was destroyed, and what we see today is the reconstructed castle.
Why is it said to be the most romantic castle? It is said that if couples kiss in front of the castle, their love will last forever. Although this claim cannot be verified, sincerity brings results. One side of the castle is close to the road, while the other side leans against the mountains, surrounded by lush trees, presenting a quiet, pastoral scene.
Glen Coe
Featured films: "Skyfall", "Braveheart", "Highlander", "Rob Roy", etc.
Having talked about many British castles, let us now describe the beautiful natural scenery of the UK. Glen Coe is the natural barrier for entering Scotland from the west and is considered one of the most quintessentially Scottish landscapes. The glen is shrouded in mist year-round, and green vegetation has completely covered the once rugged, rocky mountains.
What might impress you most is the deep, majestic scenery of the glen in the movie "Braveheart," paired with the bold sounds of Scottish bagpipes, making it even more melodious. It is sparsely populated year-round and therefore remains unspoiled, frequently visited by many nature-loving travelers.
