Hong Kong Immigration and Business: According to Hong Kong media reports, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Leung Chun-ying, recently pointed out that Hong Kong's past policy of "positive non-intervention" is outdated, and that economic development requires the government to provide "moderate intervention" and support. In an article titled "Moderate Intervention" published in the Wen Wei Po, Leung emphasized that the governments of the economies surrounding Hong Kong actively support and even fund local industrial development, and that the Hong Kong industry cannot fight alone, needing appropriate government support.
He emphasized in the article that "moderate intervention" has been his governing philosophy since his election as Chief Executive. During his term, he has promoted the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect, increased housing construction, implemented a zero quota policy for non-local pregnant women giving birth in Hong Kong, and supported various industries. He has also actively promoted trade development between Hong Kong and the mainland and foreign countries to boost the economy, while explaining the importance of "moderate intervention". If market operations violate the interests of Hong Kong people and the overall interests of society, the government must take action. Hong Kong's ability to become a global and regional investment hub is a result of the collective efforts of the entire society, including the HKSAR government and various sectors such as commerce, finance, and professionals, second only to the two largest economies in the world.
