On that day, Ng Kei-kwong and his wife, Ng Lee Siu-ling, concluded their visit for the Shanxi "Golden Bridge Charity Project." The couple visited middle schools, universities, and special education schools across eight counties (districts) in Jinzhong City, including Pingyao, Qixian, Taigu, and Yuci, where they met with teachers and students of special education schools and held discussions with local students receiving aid.
Born into a poor family, Ng Kei-kwong used his own life experience to tell the children, "Knowledge can change your destiny. I hope students will not be defeated by temporary difficulties; you must work hard, be diligent in your studies, seize opportunities, pursue your dreams, realize them, and ultimately contribute your strength to society."
"Family poverty did not bring me excessive confusion or retreat, but rather gratitude and the drive to strive for success. I hope students will live up to the expectations of the school and teachers and study hard," said Ng Kei-kwong. He added that the best reward students can give them is to succeed early in life, then pass on this love with a grateful heart and give back to society through practical actions.
Ng Kei-kwong introduced that the Hong Kong Chinese Reform Association, as a patriotic organization that loves Hong Kong, has been committed to supporting education, healthcare, and related public welfare causes in the Mainland for many years. They will continue to hold the "Golden Bridge Charity Project" in Jinzhong, Shanxi, to sustain this love, support the construction of new rural areas in the Mainland, and help children from impoverished families.
At the same time, Ng Kei-kwong hopes that more friends from all sectors in Hong Kong will participate in such charitable activities, stating, "This is not only a good deed but also a virtuous act that benefits the local community."
The "Golden Bridge Charity Project" is a public welfare activity jointly organized by Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province, and the Hong Kong Chinese Reform Association. Since 2005, the Hong Kong Chinese Reform Association has donated over 20 million yuan to the local area, building hundreds of new rural Hope Primary Schools and rural health clinics, and providing financial aid to nearly 10,000 students in local universities, middle schools, primary schools, and special education schools.
