Focusing on investment and settlement in Hong Kong and listening to Hong Kong stories: Hong Kong director Lin Lingdong has not released a new work since co-directing "The Triad" with Tsui Hark and Johnnie To in 2007. Recently, according to Hong Kong media reports, Lin Lingdong will return to directing after a 7-year hiatus, with one action film expected to start shooting in June, starring Daniel Wu and Shawn Yue, and another police action film starring Louis Koo and Lau Ching-Wan, also planned to begin shooting by the end of this year.

It is reported that both of Lin Lingdong's action films are in collaboration with Media Asia Films. Media Asia's boss, Li Guoxing, recently confirmed the news of Lin Lingdong's new film, which is set to start shooting in June, stating that the male leads have been finalized as Daniel Wu and Shawn Yue, but the female lead has yet to be determined.

Regarding the two male leads, Shawn Yue expressed that he has always admired Lin Lingdong's films and is excited to finally collaborate, considering it a dream come true, and hopes to start work soon. The other male lead, Daniel Wu, had previously announced to the media last May that he would take a year off to accompany his daughter, Raven, and be a responsible father. However, since Lin Lingdong's film is set to start shooting in June, it coincides with the end of Daniel Wu's "fatherhood break". Ms. Lok, Daniel Wu's spokesperson, recently confirmed that once Daniel Wu returns to Hong Kong after his break, he will likely take on Lin Lingdong's new film, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Lin Lingdong is undoubtedly an important director from the golden age of Hong Kong cinema. His works, including the "Storm Riders Trilogy" ("Prison on Fire", "The Duel", "School on Fire") and "The Master of the Shadowless Kick", have all been classics. Since 2007, Lin Lingdong has been living a leisurely retired life, with friends like Johnnie To and Tsui Hark repeatedly urging him to return to filmmaking. However, he had not encountered a suitable script until this year, which finally prompted his return.

In recent years, there have been many excellent Hong Kong films, especially last year's "The Last Tycoon", "The White Storm", and "The Storm", which achieved remarkable box office and critical success, leading to a resurgence of the phrase "Hong Kong films are back", injecting more confidence into Hong Kong directors. With the renowned director Lin Lingdong returning to direct, it is expected that he will once again create action films in his signature realistic style, which is highly anticipated.
