As a special concert featuring Beethoven's works, this concert will focus on performing Beethoven's immortal masterpiece—"Symphony No. 5". Many music lovers are particularly fond of the well-known four notes that open "Symphony No. 5", which have become famous for their direct and shocking nature. Beethoven even personally wrote the annotation "This is how fate knocks at the door" for it. How to interpret such a well-known masterpiece in one's own way has also become a self-challenge for many famous orchestras and conductors. Colleagues in Hong Kong who have heard the Hong Kong version of "Symphony No. 5" commented: "Just these four notes create a majestic landscape, followed by an infinite display of grandeur, the audience was deeply moved, and the applause was louder and more passionate than usual. "
Founded in 1895, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the leading orchestras in Asia. Among its music directors throughout its century-long history, there have been many renowned Chinese conductors such as Lin Kechang and Dutch modern conductor Diewart. In 2012, Dutch genius conductor Vanzhiden officially took on the role of music director of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. This genius conductor ascended to the principal position of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra at the age of 18 and embarked on a conducting career at 31. In 2008, he was named "Conductor of the Year" by Musical America magazine. The combination of Vanzhiden and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra has also received praise from industry insiders. Master Lü Shaojia, music director of the Taiwan Philharmonic Orchestra, once stated: "Vanzhiden's background as a string master has clearly influenced the Hong Kong Philharmonic, with its string section performing with high consistency, and the entire orchestra working together, reflecting the music director's serious attitude towards music."
