On August 21, the "International Zhuhai-Hong Kong-Macao Livable New Zhuhai" 2015 National Key Online Media Tour of Charming Zhuhai event, hosted by Zhuhai News Network, was held. Reporters from over 20 major domestic online media outlets visited the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority at the Jiuzhou Building in Zhuhai to tour the highly anticipated "Project of the Century," the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and learn about the progress of the project.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge spans the Lingdingyang waters, connecting the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to the east and the cities of Zhuhai and Macao in Guangdong Province to the west. It is the first ultra-large cross-sea transportation project jointly constructed by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao under the "One Country, Two Systems" framework, with construction officially commencing in December 2009. The entire project includes the main bridge and tunnel project in the sea, the Hong Kong Link Road and Hong Kong Port, the Zhuhai-Macao Link Road, and the Zhuhai-Macao Port. With a total length of approximately 55 kilometers and a total investment of about 105 billion yuan, it will become the world's longest cross-sea bridge upon completion.
It is reported that regarding the latest progress of the project, the construction of the artificial islands for the island-tunnel project is nearing completion. The installation of piers and abutments for the bridge project is about to be fully finished, and the hoisting of steel box girders is proceeding in an orderly manner. The overall hoisting of the steel towers for the Jianghai direct ship channel bridge is significantly affected by weather, marine environment, hoisting technology, and equipment; hoisting drills are currently underway, and the hoisting will be implemented in the near future while ensuring quality and safety. The first phase of the test section for the bridge deck paving project is currently under construction, and the joint design of the traffic engineering construction drawings is proceeding in an orderly manner.
