On August 23, 2015, the Embassy of China in Vanuatu held a seminar to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people in the War of Resistance Against Japan and the World Anti-Fascist War, attended by over 30 representatives from the Chinese community in Vanuatu, Chinese-funded institutions, and medical aid teams.
Ambassador Xie Bohua of the Embassy of China in Vanuatu briefly reviewed the historical process of the Chinese people's War of Resistance Against Japan since the "September 18 Incident," especially since the "Marco Polo Bridge Incident." He pointed out that as the main battlefield in the East, the Chinese people, through arduous struggles, long restrained and resisted the main forces of Japanese militarism, effectively supported the Allied forces in combat, and ultimately achieved a great victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan, making an indelible historical contribution to the final victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. Ambassador Xie stated that as we commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's War of Resistance Against Japan, we should collectively remember the heroic deeds of the martyrs, and more importantly, learn from history, cherish the hard-won peace, and promote the spirit of unity and cooperation of the Chinese nation to contribute to the realization of the "Two Centenary Goals" and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese Dream.
Ambassador Xie, with his extensive knowledge, rich historical materials, and clear explanations, brought everyone into a time of burning war, resonating with attendees from various sectors. Mr. Liang Daqi, President of the Vanuatu Chinese Peaceful Reunification Promotion Association and the Chinese Association of Compatriots, stated that the rise and fall of a nation is the responsibility of every individual. As Chinese people, we must remember history, unite as one, and revitalize China. Representatives from Chinese-funded institutions in Vanuatu expressed that the development and growth of enterprises overseas cannot be separated from the strong support of the motherland, and they must seize opportunities, take initiative, and actively participate in the construction of the "Belt and Road" to support domestic economic development and promote the deepening and development of China-Vanuatu friendship and cooperation.
This seminar, as part of the series of activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's War of Resistance Against Japan and the World Anti-Fascist War organized by the Embassy of China in Vanuatu, provided a platform for the Chinese community in Vanuatu to express their patriotic feelings and nostalgia for their homeland, and was warmly welcomed.
