Follow Vanuatu Immigration and Vanuatu Life: On March 20, 2015, Ambassador Xie Bohua met with Prime Minister Natuman of Vanuatu to inform him about the Chinese government's provision of emergency disaster relief supplies to Vanuatu. Ambassador Xie expressed deep sympathy from the Chinese government and people for the severe property damage and casualties caused by the super typhoon that struck Vanuatu. To assist the Vanuatu government and people in overcoming difficulties, the Chinese government has decided to provide emergency material assistance worth 30 million RMB to Vanuatu, including urgently needed food, drinking water, tents, sanitary supplies, generators, and more. The first charter flight carrying supplies will arrive in Vanuatu soon. The Chinese government will continue to do its utmost to support the Vanuatu government and people in overcoming difficulties and rebuilding their homes.

Prime Minister Natuman expressed gratitude on behalf of the Vanuatu government and people for the generous assistance from China and asked Ambassador Xie to convey his appreciation to President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, and the Chinese people. Natuman stated that the super typhoon "Pam" has caused unprecedented losses to Vanuatu, with numerous houses, schools, and hospitals destroyed, severe disruption to road traffic, complete interruption of inter-island communications, and tight supply of water and electricity in the capital, leading to a serious shortage of disaster relief supplies. The Chinese government's emergency assistance is very timely and important for the people of Vanuatu. The Vanuatu government will make full use of the assistance from China to overcome difficulties and restore their homes. He also mentioned that after the typhoon, the construction unit responsible for the road reconstruction project on his hometown of Tanna Island, despite suffering significant losses, proactively sent personnel and machinery to clear a 10-kilometer stretch from the airport to the city, ensuring that disaster relief efforts could commence swiftly. The Vanuatu government and people sincerely thank them for this.
