The meeting began with a welcome speech delivered by Etlin, the special envoy of Prime Minister Browne, on behalf of the Prime Minister. Subsequently, in his capacity as the first appointed Ambassador to China, Etlin introduced the future work direction and scope of the Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda in China. John, as the Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda to the African Union, introduced the investment immigration policy and market prospects of Antigua, while lawyer Barbara elaborated on the operational procedures for Antigua immigration from a professional perspective.
As the only country in the world that has diplomatic relations with China and allows for direct citizenship by investment, the Antigua investment immigration program attracted great attention from Chinese overseas investment institutions and immigration agencies immediately after its launch. The conference venue was packed with representatives from various parties seeking to establish cooperation. Attendees noted that the introduction of the Antigua program was timely, as it enriched the project portfolio for immigration agencies and provided investors with more options.
It is reported that the Antigua passport offers visa-free access to over 130 countries, with a standard processing time of approximately 2 months. The soon-to-be-opened Embassy in China is expected to be operational by the end of November 2014, at which point Chinese investors will be able to apply directly for citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda without having to travel abroad!
