The carnival in Antigua lasts for 11 days, starting at the end of July and ending on the first Tuesday of August. The Antigua Carnival can be traced back to August 1, 1834, when it was held by Black people to celebrate the abolition of slavery. It was officially established as an event in 1957, as the government hoped to promote tourism in Antigua and Barbuda through this festival.Immigrate to Antigua, and consider joining the locals in celebrating this renowned musical and dance extravaganza.

When mentioning the carnival, the first things that come to mind are beer, singing, dancing, parades, and float processions. So, what is the Antigua Carnival like?
The Antigua Carnival is an event held to celebrate liberation, featuring fixed daily celebrations such as parade carnivals, food exhibitions, cultural performances, and local music performances. Each day also includes different large-scale celebrations, including unique impromptu singing competitions, the Miss Antigua beauty pageant, the Caribbean beauty queen parade, and the j'ouvert event. Among these, the j'ouvert event is the most important. On the day of the event, people generally wake up at 3 or 4 AM and choose their favorite band to join. On this day, people celebrate by painting themselves or dressing in extravagant costumes while enjoying drinks together.
The opening ceremony of the Antigua Carnival features an open parade, where participating bands and troupes appear in T-shirts with logos. The float parade is an essential element that kicks off the carnival, allowing contestants on the floats to showcase their charm to the public. In recent years, the Chinese Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda and the local Chinese community have participated in the float parade. China, as the only foreign team participating in the float parade (which reflects the friendly relations between China and Antigua and Barbuda), has attracted the attention of many local residents and tourists with its uniquely decorated floats and lion dance performances.
