It is reported that the redesigned Ford Taurus will utilize the lightweight platform of the North American Ford Fusion. It will be positioned above the current Ford Fusion, with an increased body size to create a more comfortable and spacious interior for passengers.
Although the powertrain has not been officially announced, media outlets expect that Ford's popular EcoBoost engine will be the primary choice, paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission that offers improved performance and fuel economy.
According to this plan, the new generation of the North American Ford Taurus is expected to launch in the North American market as a 2016 model as early as 2015. In China, it is expected to be introduced and produced at the Changan Ford Hangzhou plant next year. The internal development code is D568, with an estimated price range of approximately 300,000 to 450,000 RMB.
