On March 12, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades reshuffled the cabinet, retaining 8 out of the 11 ministers from the previous cabinet.
All four former ministers from the Democratic Party expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to withdraw from the ruling coalition. Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Lakkotrypis and Minister of Health Petridis announced their withdrawal from the Democratic Party after resigning. Although the Minister of Education and the Minister of Defense did not apply to withdraw from the party, they stated they would no longer actively participate in party activities.
In the cabinet reshuffle, Anastasiades retained only one former Democratic Party minister, reappointing Lakkotrypis as Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism. The positions of Minister of Health and Minister of Education were filled by new appointees. Former Minister of Communications and Works Mitzopoulos was appointed as Minister of Defense, and the position of Minister of Communications and Works was filled by a new appointee. Other former cabinet ministers retained their original positions in the new cabinet.
