Today, few American couples use traditional vows at their weddings. Bride-to-be Jan Hernandez says, "People want their own unique wedding vows, and hiring someone to ghostwrite them is the simplest method they can think of."
Short Vows, High Prices
There are quite a few couples who, preoccupied with wedding preparations, seek external assistance to write their wedding vows. They have turned their attention to an emerging industry—companies dedicated to writing wedding vows for couples.
Lindsay Rolfson, founder of Perfect Notes, was once a renowned writer who frequently helped friends and family edit articles. At that time, she discovered that many friends wished to have someone polish their wedding vows, so in 2005, she founded Perfect Notes, specializing in this business.
"Sometimes you (the client) have many thoughts in your head, and I just help organize them. They have too much to say, so we organize the key points one by one and express them in more fluid language," says Rolfson.
Writing such a short wedding vow is not cheap. Perfect Notes charges $100 per vow. A company called "Vow Muse" charges even more, with prices ranging from $250 to $300 per vow.
