The Portugal Golden Visa has reached a milestone upgrade, with the immigration authority announcing that starting from February 2, 2026, the renewal of the Investment Residence Permit (ARI) will be fully processed online, ushering identity management into the "digital age."

1. Three Core Benefits
• Fully online process, more transparency: Renewal applications and document submissions will be handled online, with clear and traceable steps, making progress more predictable and significantly reducing uncertainty and time costs.
• Online payment, more convenient: Relevant fees can be paid directly online, eliminating the need for offline travel and waiting time, which is particularly friendly for overseas applicants.
• Offline steps limited to "necessary procedures": If biometric data (such as fingerprints and photos) need to be supplemented, the immigration authority will proactively notify and arrange this, while all other steps can be completed online.
2. Fingerprints Recorded in the Last 10 Years
You can fully authorize a lawyer to handle the process online
Important reminder: If you have completed biometric data collection in Portugal in the past 10 years, this renewal can be fully handled online by a lawyer without the need for you to travel to Portugal.
This means: Identity in Europe, living globally, with "zero disruption" in travel, which is the ideal identity management model for high-end investors.
3. Key Points to Note During Renewal
• Only official online channels are recognized: Renewal applications submitted after February 2, 2026, must be made through the official "Renewal Portal"; other methods will no longer be accepted.
• Documents and payments must be standardized: All documents must be clear and complete; payments should only be made using the secure payment channels designated by the official website, to avoid unofficial links.
• It is advisable to plan a timeline in advance: Although the process has been simplified, we still recommend starting the renewal process at least 90 days before the residence card expires.
Over the past year, the Portuguese authorities have continuously optimized the system and adjusted the processing procedures, and the overall approval efficiency of the Golden Residence Program is gradually returning to an efficient and controllable pace. The immigration authority's announcement of the full online renewal of the ARI is also seen as an important signal for Portugal to further enhance institutional certainty and international friendliness. From document acceptance, pre-review to final approval, the connections between each stage are clearer, which undoubtedly enhances the confidence of families focused on long-term planning in the Portugal immigration program.
Currently, you can apply for the Portugal Golden Residence status through the Portugal Fund Investment Immigration Program, starting with an investment of €500,000, allowing three generations of your family to apply for the status, and if you meet the relevant conditions, you can apply for a Portugal EU passport.

Additionally, you can also immigrate to Portugal through the Portugal Cultural and Artistic Donation Program. According to the law, applicants only need to invest €200,000 to apply for the Portugal Golden Residence status for three generations of their family, achieving low-cost and convenient access to an EU passport.
