Saint Kitts and Nevis Immigration Focus on Saint Kitts and Nevis Current Affairs: According to a report by the Cuban Latin American News Agency (Prensa Latina) on January 28, the Secretary-General of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), Bernardo Álvarez, announced today that Grenada and Saint Kitts and Nevis have applied to join the regional organization.

Grenada submitted its application on the 28th, the opening day of the second CELAC Summit. Saint Kitts and Nevis reaffirmed its application, which was originally submitted during the second extraordinary meeting of the ALBA-Petrocaribe held in Caracas in December 2013.
Álvarez stated that the Bolivarian Alliance supports the establishment of CELAC, and following this historic CELAC summit, the regional integration process will enter a new era.
Álvarez also highlighted the contributions made by the governments of Cuba and Venezuela to the founding of CELAC, expressing the belief that this 33-member organization is capable of fulfilling roles that the Organization of American States (OAS) has been unable to complete.
Currently, the member states of the Bolivarian Alliance include Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Suriname is a specially invited country of the organization.
