Wine in Cans Takes Flight on American Airlines

 

Known for its low-cost operations, Spirit Airlines has started providing canned wine service.

Travelers can purchase Florida's Friends Fun Wine canned Muscat or Strawberry Muscat wine at 30,000 feet, and Spirit Airlines also offers 187ml mini bottles of Sutter Home wine.

The canned wine has a capacity of 250ml, priced at $7 per can or $12 for two cans.

Spirit Airlines stated that the introduction of canned wine is due to limited cabin storage space, making canned packaging easier to stack; additionally, the lightweight cans help save on transportation costs.

However, some customers are not accepting of canned wine packaging. A passenger from New York, Ben Grazzi, said: “For wine, I can only accept plastic bottles at most; I don’t want to taste metal.”
