The Chairman of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Phidias Pilides, delivered a speech praising the contributions made by the Cyprus-China Business Association and its members to the development of economic and trade relations between Cyprus and China. The newly appointed Chairman of the Cyprus-China Business Association, K. Kounnis, reviewed the economic situation in Cyprus over the past year and thanked the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus for its active support of the association's activities and for promoting economic exchange and cooperation between the two countries.
In his speech, Ambassador Liu Xinsheng extended New Year greetings to the Cypriot entrepreneurs and friends present, and introduced China's economic situation in 2013 as well as new developments in the economic and trade relations between the two nations. Over the past year, economic, trade, investment, and exchange activities between China and Cyprus have continued to grow, with a steady stream of Chinese citizens purchasing property in Cyprus. Ambassador Liu expressed his hope that the central and local governments of Cyprus, along with chambers of commerce and entrepreneurs at all levels, would work together to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and citizens investing and cooperating in Cyprus, and to maintain the positive momentum of economic cooperation between the two countries.
