Follow Greek Investment Immigration and Life in Greece: To help Liverpool remain in contention for a top-four finish, manager Rodgers intends to sign Greek forward Konstantinos Mitroglou in January.

This 25-year-old striker plays for Olympiacos in Greece. The signings of Sturridge and Coutinho in January have already made them indispensable parts of the team, and Rodgers hopes Mitroglou can have a similar impact. The player's market value is approximately £6 million.
The manager will request the club's owners to invest heavily in January to help the team remain in the race for the top four. He stated: “The match against Arsenal proved that Liverpool needs to continue improving to be competitive. Our focus is on players who can benefit the team immediately after joining. We did this last season and reaped significant rewards.”
However, the Mirror believes that the transfer budget prepared by the Merseyside club for the winter is far less than the £20 million spent in January. Reports indicate that club CEO Ian Ayre has stated that the team does not have much funding available for new signings in January.
It is reported that Rodgers hopes to sign a forward and a midfielder in the winter. Mitroglou has been performing excellently this season, having scored 15 goals in 13 appearances (11 starts) for the club so far. Rodgers added: “I have not heard the claim that the transfer budget is limited; we know where the team needs to improve, but it depends on timing, price, and whether we can make it happen.”
