Follow Greece Immigration and Greece News: Wu Shengli, member of the Central Military Commission and Commander of the PLA Navy, met with the visiting Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis, in Beijing this afternoon.
Wu Shengli stated that cooperation between the Chinese and Greek navies is an important component of the cooperation between the two militaries, and that cooperation in various fields has maintained a positive momentum. This visit marks the first time the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff has visited China, holding milestone significance for the development of friendly relations between the two navies. Wu expressed gratitude for the full support received from the Greek side during the Chinese Navy's evacuation mission of Chinese nationals from Libya in March 2011.
Wu Shengli pointed out that he expects the two navies to further expand and deepen cooperation in all aspects: strengthening high-level delegation visits, particularly exchanges between specialized groups and academic institutions, to enhance mutual understanding, deepen friendship, and learn from one another; strengthening warship visits and conducting professional exchanges and joint exercises in conjunction with these visits; and strengthening escort cooperation, engaging in extensive and in-depth sharing of experiences, and continuing to utilize the Gulf of Aden escort operations as a platform for exchange and cooperation to jointly contribute to regional peace and tranquility.
Apostolakis stated that Greece attaches great importance to its relationship with China and hopes to further deepen exchanges and strengthen cooperation between the two navies, continuously promoting the development of bilateral relations.
