Filipino cuisine is unique, fresh, delicious, rich and juicy, colorful, and full of exotic flavors. After immigrating to the Philippines, whether you are dining at a street food stall or in a high-end restaurant, you will have a choice of authentic Filipino food and European dishes that are truly memorable. Much like its culture, Filipino cuisine reflects a fusion of diverse ethnicities in both the variety of food and cooking methods.
Filipino-style Barbecue
Barbecue best reflects the local atmosphere of the Philippines. As a traditional Filipino dish, Filipino-style barbecue includes various types of food such as grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, and grilled seafood, which can satisfy your strongest cravings for meat.
Grilled Bananas
Everyone has eaten bananas, but I believe many of you have rarely heard of charcoal-grilled bananas, or versions made with caramel or honey. Roasted slowly over high heat, the bananas become exceptionally soft and glutinous, with an even more fragrant and sweet taste.
Halo-Halo
Ingredients can be added according to personal preference, such as sweet corn kernels, sweet potatoes, sweet beans, red beans, coconut jelly, etc., topped with shaved ice and condensed milk or coconut milk; for a more sophisticated version, a scoop of ice cream can be added.
Lumpia
Lumpia is similar in shape to Chinese fried spring rolls. For the filling, locals often use minced meat or mixed vegetables, wrapped in a thin pastry shell into sticks, and deep-fried until golden. It is crispy and delicious, and the taste is indescribable when paired with local unique dipping sauces.
Halo-Halo
Halo-Halo is actually a unique, refreshing local dessert. Its origin is a shaved ice treat that helps beat the heat, topped with purple yam ice cream and a variety of colorful fruits, konjac jelly, candies, and beans. Having a serving during the sweltering summer will immediately wash away the heat.
Geoduck
Also known as the King Clam or Goddess Clam, it is called "Geoduck" due to its large, fleshy siphon. Locals do not eat geoduck, so the geoduck population remains in good condition. However, ever since Asians began immigrating and harvesting geoduck in North America, it has become an endangered species there.
