Follow Cyprus Immigration and Cyprus Current Affairs: It is reported that the Cypriot government will soon privatize semi-governmental organizations, a requirement stipulated in the memorandum signed between Cyprus and the Troika. Government spokesperson Papadopoulos stated after an economic meeting of the National Council that the meeting conducted in-depth and effective discussions on future economic structural adjustments, particularly regarding national health, social policy, and the privatization of semi-governmental organizations. It was ultimately decided that the National Economic Council, acting as a government advisory body, would participate in the decision-making process.

When asked about social policy issues, the government spokesperson stated that the committee had reviewed the government's proposal to ensure a minimum income and expressed strong support for it, considering it an equitable social measure. Furthermore, he indicated that the privatization of Cyprus's three major semi-governmental organizations—the Electricity Authority, the Telecommunications Authority, and the Ports Authority—will be on the agenda during the Troika's visit to Cyprus in October. The privatization of state-owned enterprises is a requirement of the memorandum, and the Cypriot government will discuss this matter as soon as possible.
Regarding the restructuring of a key economic engine of Cyprus—the Bank of Cyprus—the government continues to closely monitor relevant progress, but the government cannot intervene in the specific operational matters of private enterprises, which should be conducted under the supervision of their respective competent authorities.
