Focus on Canada Investment Immigration and Canada Technology development: Recently, Greg Rickford, the Minister of Science and Technology of Canada, announced the establishment of a new industrial alliance and an investment of CAD 40 million through the National Research Council (NRC) to develop printing materials with electronic smart functions. The new project will focus on developing new functional inks, printing processes, and electronic circuits, with applications covering pharmaceutical packaging that tracks medication history and electronic labels that inform customers when food spoils.

Rickford stated that the new project and alliance aim to position Canada as a global leader in the field of printed electronics. The Canadian government will work closely with multiple industry partners, including academia and industry, to support the development of ultra-thin, flexible, and low-cost electronic products.
The NRC will invest CAD 40 million in the "Printed Electronics" project over the next five years to develop cutting-edge technologies and lighter electronic devices for creating a smart society. This includes smart labels that reduce transportation costs, smart pharmaceutical packaging to improve healthcare services, new anti-counterfeiting measures to enhance the security of banknotes, and printable radio frequency identification antennas.
Dan Wayne, Vice President of Emerging Technologies at the NRC, stated that printed electronics technology will allow everyday items to interact with customers, which was unimaginable five years ago. Printed electronics technology will spark a revolution in the manufacturing of high-capacity, interactive consumer products and fundamentally change the world we live in at every level.
The newly established industrial alliance will also invest CAD 16 million over the next five years, concentrating resources from Canadian companies and research centers to provide strategic research and development, technical services, and testing of design and manufacturing technologies. This will help industrial clients bridge technological gaps when developing new products and provide a strong technical platform for the design of other innovative products.
