U.S. Investment Immigration focuses on U.S. Information: Former U.S. President Carter recently emphasized the importance of reducing the cost of affordable housing during a working visit to Oakland in the East Bay, stating that housing is a basic human right.

At 89 years old, Carter, despite his age, wore blue jeans and a light blue shirt, a white baseball cap, and tennis shoes, and worked enthusiastically alongside construction workers at a local construction site where 12 units are to be built, together with his wife, Rosalynn, as volunteers.
Carter told reporters at the construction site that a decent place to live is a basic human right. He and his wife have been working with Habitat for Humanity for 30 years, doing everything they can to build homes for those in need.
He stated that a good living environment provides dignity and self-respect. It keeps people off the streets and reduces various crimes; "comfortable housing undoubtedly improves the quality of life for everyone."
According to Habitat officials, Carter, along with approximately 3,000 volunteers, will build, renovate, and repair over 80 homes this week.
The former president humorously remarked that building homes each year feels like a "vacation," even though the work is extremely hard. He believes that volunteering to build homes for low-income families is a partnership, not charity.
He also expressed satisfaction, stating: "We gain far more than we give."
