Recently, Secretary for Food and Health of Hong Kong, Ko Wing-man, stated on the 15th that the government has established a working group to study and improve the supply chain for formula milk powder. The group has initiated work in four areas, primarily focusing on overall supply, retail ordering, and pre-ordering. These efforts aim to give local parents sufficient confidence in purchasing milk powder for their children, at which point the "export restriction order" on milk powder will be lifted.

Ko Wing-man stated to the media that day that the working group includes industry representatives from the retail sector and major milk powder suppliers, as well as consumer representatives. The plan is to conduct an assessment and stress test during the October Golden Week.
Since January of this year, the supply of formula milk powder in Hong Kong has become tight. In March, the SAR government implemented the "export restriction order" on milk powder, limiting adults leaving Hong Kong to carrying no more than two cans of formula milk powder.

Secretary for Food and Health of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Ko Wing-man, stated in Hong Kong on the 13th that since the implementation of measures to restrict the departure of formula milk powder, the supply has been stable. The SAR government will conduct a review and stress test in October, and if the measures prove effective, the restrictions will be lifted.
After attending the opening ceremony of a legislator's office that day, Ko Wing-man told the media that the committee established by the SAR government, the industry, and social figures on July 3rd has begun its work to formulate guidelines and standards to submit recommendations to the SAR government for improving the formula milk powder supply chain.
Since January of this year, the supply of formula milk powder in Hong Kong has become tight. In March, the SAR government implemented the "export restriction order" on milk powder, limiting individuals leaving Hong Kong to carrying no more than two cans of formula milk powder. While this measure quickly secured the supply in the Hong Kong market and overcame the "milk powder shortage," it also led to a significant decline in Hong Kong's milk powder sales. A spokesperson for the Food and Health Bureau stated on July 3rd that once the improvement measures are proven effective and sustainable, the SAR government will consider abolishing the restriction.
