Greek Investment Immigration provides detailed information about Greece: The climate on Crete Island shows significant changes throughout the year!

January: Cold, rainy, and windy. During this period, there is only one week when the overall weather is relatively good and not too windy. Therefore, this time is referred to as "the calm days."
February: February is slightly warmer than January, with a bit more sunshine. The almond trees bloom first in this month. The weather alternates between cold and warm, making it unpredictable.
March: The weather in March is usually quite cold and windy, although there are also many sunny days. A heatwave in March 2001 caused temperatures to reach 30°C (this was, of course, an exception), leading to the first brave swimmers.
April: April marks spring in Crete, with pleasant temperatures and low rainfall. The island is adorned with wildflowers, making it exceptionally beautiful.
May: May in Crete becomes very warm and sunny. After May 10, rainfall is rare. As the "meltemi" seasonal north wind has not yet begun, the sea remains calm and tranquil. May is considered the best time for outdoor activities, and a jacket is sufficient even at night.
June: Hot and sunny. It is the golden period for beach vacations!
July and August: Windy and extremely hot. Due to the seasonal north wind, there is no better place to be during this time than spending the whole day at the beach. Besides seeking shade and drinking plenty of water, do not forget your hat and sunscreen. This weather is not suitable for those who cannot tolerate high temperatures (30-35°C).
September: Sunny with a gentle breeze, the weather has a hint of coolness. This season is very suitable for outdoor activities. Do not forget to wear a light jacket at night, especially for those planning to head to the mountains.
October: Abundant sunshine with almost no wind, but occasional rain, especially in western Crete. The weather is very suitable for outdoor activities. October is the season for enjoying a traditional Cretan drink called Raki, distilled from grape skins. Warm clothing is hardly needed this month.
November: The weather in November becomes unpredictable, with many sunny days but also plenty of rain and wind. While wearing a sweater, do not forget to bring your umbrella. The south wind begins to blow at this time, sometimes mixed with sand from the Sahara Desert, which can make the weather in Crete unusual.
December: The weather conditions during this time vary each year; it can be stormy or calm, rainy or sunny, very cold or pleasantly warm. Do not forget to wear a sweater over your swimsuit. During this period, the temperatures along the southern coastline are very suitable for swimming.
