Follow Greek Immigration to stay updated on Greek education: The Greek Ministry of Education has issued an order prohibiting all primary and secondary school students from using mobile phones on campus to maintain normal classroom order.

According to the order signed by Greek Minister of Education Maria Kouroumplis, primary and secondary school students are prohibited from possessing and using mobile phones on campus. If students need to bring a mobile phone to school under "special circumstances," they must turn off the phone and keep it in their backpack.
The reason for the Ministry of Education's ban is a shocking incident of school violence that occurred nationwide. Previously, a shocking case of gang rape took place at a secondary school on the island of Evia, Greece. A 16-year-old girl was brutally gang-raped by four boys. Another student recorded the incident on a mobile phone, which circulated online.
Greek police subsequently launched an investigation based on the mobile phone footage. The four boys currently face charges of rape, among others, and three other students are charged with conspiracy. When the mobile phone, which was crucial evidence in this case, was confiscated, the video footage had already been deleted, and the police are currently working to recover the footage.
