Essential information for those considering investment immigration to Spain:
As a visitor residing outside the European Union, you are entitled to claim a refund of the VAT/sales tax on goods purchased in Europe that you take out of the EU. Since tax refund procedures and rates vary by store, it is recommended to inquire clearly at the store where you make your purchase and request the relevant documentation.
Three steps for tax-free shopping——
1. Shop at stores displaying the "Tax Free Shopping" sign and request your Refund Cheque.
2. Customs Stamp: When departing the EU, present your purchased goods, receipts, and passport to obtain a customs stamp on your Refund Cheque.
3. Receive your refund.
★Tax Refund Tips:
① Shopping tax refunds in Europe are the individual right of the traveler. Tour leaders or guides can only assist you in checking the tax refund forms but assume no liability for this process.
② When shopping at Printemps or Galeries Lafayette in Paris, France, you may choose to use a credit card as a guarantee at the designated tax refund counters within the store (the store will charge a handling fee) to receive an immediate cash refund. However, travelers who choose this method must mail the tax refund form, which has been stamped by customs upon departure from the EU, back to the tax refund company. Please be especially aware that in any case, if the tax refund company does not receive the stamped tax refund form (even if it is lost in the mail), the company reserves the right to charge this tax amount back to your credit card.
