Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vanuatu, the Chinese government has provided more than 50 grants to Vanuatu. Under these grants, the Chinese government has undertaken 8 complete projects, including the Parliament House, the Melanesian Spearhead Group office building, and a seafood processing plant. It has also implemented 7 technical cooperation projects, such as biogas technology cooperation, rice and vegetable cultivation, table tennis coaching, and medical technology cooperation. Relevant Chinese enterprises have implemented two concessional loan projects: the Y-12 aircraft project and the Vanuatu government e-government project. Among these, the Parliament House project began construction in March 1990 and was completed and handed over in December 1991. This project has now become a local landmark in Vanuatu. The seafood processing plant project began construction in December 2007 and was completed and handed over in June 2009, with a total investment of 35 million RMB, a designed daily seafood processing capacity of 25 tons, and a cold storage capacity of 310 tons. The Chinese medical team projects in Vanuatu have conducted 7 and 13 phases in Port Vila and Santo respectively, providing timely and efficient medical assistance to the local population, which has been highly welcomed by the grassroots people of Vanuatu.
