According to data from the Vanuatu National Statistics Office, China was Vanuatu's fifth-largest trading partner from 2005 to 2008. In 2008, the bilateral trade volume reached 25.871 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 96%. Of this, imports from Vanuatu accounted for 159,000 USD (up 25.8% year-on-year), and exports to Vanuatu reached 25.712 million USD (up 97% year-on-year). China's primary exports to Vanuatu include mechanical and electrical products, textiles and apparel, plastic products, ships, and fuels, while imports from Vanuatu mainly consist of agricultural products, raw logs, and frozen fish. There remains significant potential for the continued expansion of trade between China and Vanuatu.
