Focus on immigration to Ireland and life in Ireland:
Reports indicate that after the implementation of milk powder purchase limitations in the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, and Hong Kong, the United Kingdom has recently joined this trend. The purchase restriction signs written in Chinese clearly indicate that the main targets of these restrictions are consumers from mainland China who engage in milk powder overseas shopping. However, demand for imported milk powder remains strong among this group of consumers, and the imported market is gradually welcoming legitimate suppliers.
The so-called milk powder overseas shopping group refers to consumers who find ways to purchase foreign milk powder through various channels, including hiring professional buyers online or relying on friends abroad. Although babies in different regions have varying physical constitutions and different nutritional needs from milk powder, many parents evidently distrust domestic brands. Within two months of the purchase limit announcement in Hong Kong, the price of a certain brand of Hong Kong version milk powder in stores in Guangzhou rose from 180 yuan per can to 240 yuan, yet it continues to sell well.
In fact, the domestic infant milk powder market consists of multiple tiers, and the consumers who only purchase original imported milk powder are in the minority. They are generally more economically affluent and have a very strong intention to purchase. Dairy industry expert Wang Dingmian stated in an interview with reporters that estimates suggest that after the overseas purchase limits were imposed, only about 10% of the milk powder overseas shopping group turned to domestic brands.
