Focus on Saint Kitts immigration, focus on Saint Kitts financial news:
Recent reports indicate that Canada has delayed the acceptance of new immigration applications, leading wealthy Chinese individuals to look toward the United States and other countries for their immigration destinations. A U.S. Department of State official recently stated that a large influx of applications has been flooding U.S. immigration agencies, causing a backlog in processing.
As the average waiting time for an EB-5 visa, which grants permanent residency in the U.S., is approximately two years, firms assisting Chinese citizens in transferring capital abroad are identifying more immigration-friendly countries for their wealthy clients. Harvey, a lawyer in Hong Kong, mentioned that some have even consulted him regarding methods to immigrate to lesser-known countries like the small Caribbean island nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Harvey stated that over the past two weeks, he has handled more than 10 Saint Kitts and Nevis immigration applications for Chinese clients, whereas in the past, he typically processed only one or two such applications per month.
A Saint Kitts and Nevis government official said that under the country's Citizenship by Investment Program, obtaining citizenship requires either a minimum donation of $250,000 to the country's Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation or the purchase of property in the country with a minimum value of $400,000.
The official noted that the successful processing of a Saint Kitts and Nevis immigration application takes between six months to one year. Saint Kitts and Nevis does not require immigrant investors to reside in the country, and once an application is approved and processed, the passport can be mailed to the applicant. The official added that, to date, the number of Chinese choosing to immigrate to Saint Kitts and Nevis is not yet significant, and many of them have not relocated to the country.
