Effective December 1, 2010, the new Canadian Federal Investor Immigration regulations have been officially implemented.
Compared to the previous regulations, the new federal law has doubled the requirements for applicant net worth and investment amounts. The new law requires applicants to have a net worth increased from the original 800,000 CAD to 1.6 million CAD; the investment amount has increased from 400,000 CAD to 800,000 CAD, which is refundable after 5 years, or a one-time payment of 220,000 CAD in loan interest, allowing the entire family to quickly obtain a Green Card.
It is also reported that the Canadian Federal Investor Immigration program resumed accepting applications on December 1, 2010. The resumed federal investor immigration application process features benefits such as obtaining a Green Card for the whole family in one step, guaranteed investment security, requirements for complete documentation, and shorter processing times.
Basic requirements for applicants under the new law:
1. Asset Requirements:
The applicant must have a net worth of no less than 1.6 million CAD.
2. Business Background:
At least 2 years of business management experience within the past 5 years.
3. Investment Requirements:
A. Full investment of 800,000 CAD, refundable without interest after 5 years.
B. Loan investment of 220,000 CAD, non-refundable.
