On the morning of May 16, the premiere of the three-part high-definition documentary 'Charming Greece,' co-produced by China Central Television (CCTV) and the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) and produced by the CCTV Documentary Channel, was held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras attended the event in person to congratulate the release of the documentary.
He stated that the documentary 'Charming Greece' showcases Greek landscapes ranging from the azure seas to remote mountains, all of which are etched into the soul of the Greek people. "In the hearts of the Greeks, there is a cherished respect for China and for Chinese civilization. We hope more Chinese people will come to Greece," Mr. Samaras said. "Attending this premiere marks the most wonderful moment of my visit to China."
CCTV President Hu Zhanfan pointed out that as the first documentary project co-produced by the national television stations of China and Greece and produced by the CCTV Documentary Channel, 'Charming Greece' presents the unique charm of Greece's long history and the vibrant vitality of contemporary life through the stories of 20 ordinary Greek individuals. Furthermore, Hu Zhanfan added, "After its premiere on the CCTV Documentary Channel, 'Charming Greece' will also be broadcast on the CCTV Documentary International Channel to 42 million viewers across more than 60 countries and regions worldwide."
Reporters learned that the creative team for 'Charming Greece' consisted of core production staff from the CCTV Documentary Channel. Between the end of last year and the beginning of this year, the film crew overcame numerous difficulties to successfully complete the filming mission within one month. Director Xu Xiaohui explained that the film focuses on showcasing the current social landscape of Greece, exploring the profound historical and cultural heritage of the country through the three perspectives of the sea, sunlight, and stone, while presenting the authentic lives of modern Greeks.
It is reported that from May 24 to 26, the documentary 'Charming Greece' will premiere every night at 20:00 on CCTV-9 (Documentary Channel), and will subsequently be broadcast globally on the CCTV Documentary International Channel.
