Investment Immigration to Greece focuses on Greek News: Two exquisite statues of goddesses, dressed in long robes, were discovered guarding the entrance of a mysterious ancient tomb from the era of Alexander the Great, located near Amphipolis in the Macedonia region of Northern Greece.

A statement released by the Greek Ministry of Culture stated: “The left arm of one statue and the right arm of the other are both raised high, symbolizing a gesture of refusal to enter the tomb.”
Increasing speculation suggests that this ancient tomb, dating back to the time of Alexander the Great (356 to 323 BC), may still retain its original form, with treasures preserved intact.
In previous archaeological excavations, astonishing gold jewelry and precious statues were discovered within the Macedonian tomb.
A 5-meter tall marble lion statue originally stood above this 500-meter long ancient tomb, surrounded by sturdy stone walls. It has now been safely relocated to the roadside nearby for preservation.
Officials from the Ministry of Culture stated that there are also two headless sphinx statues flanking the outer entrance, “After removing the sand from the second entrance stone wall, archaeologists also discovered exquisite marble columns.”
Photos released by the department show the statues standing above the doorframe, revealing their upper bodies, with their curly long hair cascading over their shoulders.
Since mid-August of this year, archaeologists have been diligently excavating this site from the era of Alexander the Great, which Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has referred to as “a significant discovery.”
Officials from the Ministry of Culture stated, “The arrangement of the second entrance (with a porch) provides us with an important clue, indicating that this ancient tomb is a monument of special significance.”
Given the quality of the sculpted columns and the dazzling mosaic floor discovered at this precious ancient tomb, there is much anticipation surrounding it.
Many speculations have arisen regarding the owner of the tomb, including Roxane, the Bactrian wife of Alexander the Great, his mother Olympias, or one of his generals.
