U.S. Vice President Joe Biden stated on September 3 that the economic stimulus plan implemented by the government six months ago has not only taken effect but has exceeded expectations.
Speaking at the Brookings Institution that day, Biden pointed out that the various measures taken by the government to revitalize the economy have changed the trajectory of the U.S. economy and shifted the focus of public discourse. "We used to talk about the beginning of the recession; now we are discussing the end of it."
Biden claimed that the U.S. economic stimulus plan, which has been in effect for nearly 200 days, has helped create or retain between 500,000 and 750,000 jobs, and that the implementation of the plan has been faster and more effective than originally anticipated.
U.S. President Barack Obama continued his vacation at Camp David on the 2nd. The White House hopes that Biden's speech will boost public confidence in economic recovery.
