Everyone may be familiar with EU citizenship, but what additional benefits come with investing in Cyprus for citizenship? Below, I will provide an overview:

13th Month Salary
Most employers provide employees with a 13th month salary as a bonus, which is generally paid at the end of the year along with the 12th month salary.
Vacation Allowance
Each person is entitled to 20 days of vacation per year, with the vacation allowance being 85% of the normal monthly salary (this can also be received if no vacation is taken, equivalent to additional salary). The vacation allowance is provided by the government, with the condition that social insurance has been paid for at least 6.5 months in the previous year, and that social insurance contributions are still ongoing. Social insurance is generally fully paid by the employer, but if self-employed, it is paid by the individual.
Maternity Allowance
The maternity leave period is 18 weeks. If it is the first child, the salary during maternity leave is 72% of the normal monthly salary; for the second child, it is 80%; for the third child, it is 90%; and for the fourth child, it is the full normal monthly salary. Additionally, the government provides a one-time subsidy of 6% of the annual income. Both salary and subsidy are provided by the government, with the condition that social insurance has been paid for at least 6.5 months in the previous year, and that social insurance contributions are still ongoing (excluding maternity leave), and an application is submitted to the government at 25 weeks of pregnancy.
Unemployment Benefits
Unemployment benefits can be received for a maximum of 6 months, amounting to two-thirds of the normal monthly salary. These are provided by the government, with the condition that social insurance has been paid for at least 6.5 months in the previous year.
Disability Allowance
The amount of the allowance is calculated based on the degree of disability. For those completely unable to work, the disability allowance is as follows:
60% of the normal monthly salary (if there are no minor children in the household);
80% of the normal monthly salary (if there is one minor child in the household);
90% of the normal monthly salary (if there are two minor children in the household);
Full normal monthly salary (if there are three or more minor children in the household).
This is provided by the government. If the disability results in the loss of the ability to care for oneself, a caregiver must be hired, and the caregiver's salary is paid by the government. The condition is that social insurance has been paid for at least 156 weeks prior to the application.
Child Allowance (0–18 years)
A family with only one child can receive an allowance of 475 euros per year; families with two children can receive 570 euros per child per year; families with three children can receive 1041 euros per child per year; and families with four children can receive 1645 euros per child per year. This is provided by the government, with the condition that the family has resided in Cyprus for three years, with a total annual absence of no more than 30 days, and that the parents' annual income does not exceed 49,000 euros. Families that have not paid social insurance can also enjoy this benefit.
University Student Allowance
If the total annual income of the parents is below 39,000 euros, each child can receive at least 1710 euros (living expenses) and 850 euros (tuition) as a university student allowance;
If the total annual income of the parents is between 39,000 euros and 49,000 euros, each child can receive at least 1580 euros (living expenses) and 850 euros (tuition) as a university student allowance;
If the total annual income of the parents is between 49,000 euros and 59,000 euros, each child can receive at least 1450 euros (living expenses) and 725 euros (tuition) as a university student allowance.
This is provided by the government, with the condition that the family has resided in Cyprus for five years, with a total annual absence of no more than 30 days; the total annual income of the parents is below 59,000 euros or fixed assets are below 1.2 million euros. Families that have not paid social insurance can also enjoy this benefit.
Single Parent Family Child Allowance
Children from single-parent families can receive a monthly allowance of 180 euros per child, provided by the government, with the condition that the family has resided in Cyprus for three years, with a total annual absence of no more than 30 days. Families that have not paid social insurance can also enjoy this benefit.
Minimum Income Guarantee
The minimum income guarantee for adults is 480 euros, and for minor children, it is 240 euros. Families where both parents' income is below this standard can receive minimum income support (for example, a family of three with a total monthly income of 1000 euros, while the minimum income guarantee for a family of three is 480 + 480 + 240 = 1200 euros, so this family can receive 200 euros in minimum income support per month). This is provided by the government, with the condition that the family has resided in Cyprus for five years, with a total annual absence of no more than 30 days, and that bank savings do not exceed 5000 euros.
Pension
The minimum pension is 350 euros (for those who have not paid social insurance), with the condition that the individual is over 65 years old, has no other pensions, has resided in an EU country for 20 years prior to retirement, and has not been absent from the EU for more than 30 days each year.
If social insurance has been paid for more than 15 years, the monthly pension is calculated based on the accumulated pension amount in the social insurance account and the average monthly salary during employment, and an additional 13th month pension is received each year. The conditions are the same as above.
Healthcare
Public Healthcare: All emergency services are free; individuals with an annual income below 15,000 euros, and who have paid social insurance for at least 3 years, or have purchased private health insurance (minimum 175 euros per year), can enjoy free outpatient services (some outpatient services require a 6 euro registration fee), prescription medications, and inpatient care.
Private Healthcare: By purchasing private health insurance, individuals pay out-of-pocket for medical services and medications, and then reimburse based on the amount of insurance premium and the contents of the health insurance. The minimum health insurance is 175 euros per year.
Insurance Coverage: Excludes pre-existing conditions, dental (except for traffic accidents), ophthalmology, routine physical examinations, infertility, and gynecological diseases within six months of enrollment.
Reimbursement Procedure: When seeing a doctor and purchasing medications (Cyprus pharmacies are completely separate), have the doctor and pharmacy staff fill out the corresponding information and sign on the insurance company's reimbursement application form, and send the form to the insurance company (including fax, mail) within 14 days after the expenses are incurred for record-keeping. Reimbursement is generally received within one month after record-keeping.
